About Us

Candace, Meritte, Brad, and Gerry Threadgill.

Meritte Designs (pronounced like merit) is a family owned and operated business from the Northwest Houston area. We create functional art pieces combining woodworking, resin, and painting.

For my entire life, my dad has always had a shop and created amazing things out of wood. I have early memories of learning to use a hammer and other tools. He taught me how to use the band saw, and I would cut out names for my teachers and friends. So in a way he started this whole business.

Gerry is our behind the scenes helper. He helps us all with designs and construction. He cuts, planes, sands, glues and assembles projects. He turns pens and pencils on the lathe, and he's getting pretty good with the laser engraver.

Candace is a retired educator (23 years) and our CFO. Not only does she take care of the money and contracts, she makes the hardwood cutting boards. She has branched out to include charcuterie boards, serving trays and resin pieces.

Brad is a full-time teacher at Klein Oak HS, but he still finds time to make beautiful resin and wood river charcuterie boards, hand-turned bowls, specialty pens, bottle stoppers, and resin jewelry.

That leaves me...I am also a retired educator (23 years). I make the paint and resin lazy susans, the resin serving trays, resin pieces, resin and painted jewelry, hand-turned wooden French style rolling pins, bottle stoppers, pens, and bracelet assists. I design and create sublimation products. The most popular being the 20 oz zentangle tumblers.
